As part of the »OTI West Africa Regional » project, CPHDA conducted a study in Niger, Benin, Guinea, Togo, Ivory Coast and Ghana which aimed to strengthen the resilience of communities in the face of conflicts, prevent and countering Violent Extremism in countries that have experienced or are experiencing conflict and insecurity, where unaddressed post-conflict grievances, the historic absence of peaceful transfer of power from one elected president to another and the fallout from Regional conflicts in Burkina Faso and Mali pose a threat to peace and stability.
The USAID/OTI Littorals Regional Initiative supports local counterparts in coastal West Africa to reduce the window for expansion of violent extremist organizations (VEOs) through targeted, short-term programs that assist governments and communities to strengthen their prevention capacities. LRI has launched programs in Ghana, Togo and Benin, with activities focused on vulnerable border areas in the countries’ northern regions.
