The evaluation team spent a month conducting fieldwork in Niger, Chad and Mali, from May 24 to June 29, 2016. Prior to the fieldwork, the team reviewed literature and reports from previous terrain. In the field, the team collected data from hundreds of questionnaires and conducted focus groups and key informant interviews. These data constitute the primary source material for the assessment. The evaluators compared their findings to previous reports and evaluations, as well as key reference documents such as USAID’s « Guide to the Drivers of Violent Extremism » and « Development Assistance and Counter-Extremism: A Programming Guide. »
