Mr Paul SANGARE is the Executive Director of CPHDA, where he oversees all operations of the organization, coordinating all aspects of the organization’s performance, including operational, financial, strategic and business development collaborations, maximizing stakeholder engagement and donor and partner satisfaction. Mr Paul SANGARE is an international development professional with over 15 years’ experience working on development projects in West and Central Africa. Most recently, Mr Paul SANGARE held the position of Sahel Regional Director at CPHDA, where he contributed significantly to positively impacting the lives of thousands of women, youth and children through the implementation of various projects funded by USAID, the US Department of State, Globales Affairs Canada (GAC) and the international private sector in the fields of P/CVE, education, health, Governance, economic growth, economic empowerment of young people by giving them life skills and better prospects to prevent them from joining the violent extremist groups that abound in this region.
Mr Paul SANGARE has led several studies and research projects in the Sahel countries of Mali, Burkina-Faso, Niger, Mauritania and the Lake Chad Basin countries of Cameroon, Chad and Nigeria in the fields of P/CVE and Governance, with a view to understanding the root causes of radicalization and armed violence in these fragile states, mapping the forces at play and developing approaches and strategies to strengthen the economic resilience of vulnerable households. Mr Paul SANGARE also worked with the American organization FHI360 on the development and finalization of USAID’s CVE reference guide for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Francophone Africa, including West and Central Africa, as well as Francophone CSOs in the Maghreb countries, enabling him to build a vast and solid network of CSOs and practitioners working in the fields of P/CVE and Governance.
An experienced and efficient manager, Mr Paul SANGARE’s career has always involved accompanying and supervising junior teams and development professionals in fragile states in conflict, to solve difficult and complex problems and improve the living conditions of local communities. He has expertise in continuous improvement initiatives, organizational management and team leadership. Mr Paul SANGARE speaks fluent French, is proficient in Malinke and English.
