The Community Resilience Support Program in Cameroon (PARC-Cameroon) is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to strengthen the capacities of local civil society organizations (CSOs) so that they can better serve their communities and advance development goals in the Far North of Cameroon. The APRC-Cameroon has the following objectives:
- Sub-objective 1 – The development of the institutional capacities of strategic partners will strengthen the collective performance of CSOs to defend the rights of citizens and the provision of necessary services, respond to the marginalization of women and young people in the restricted civic spaces of the Far North, and collectively respond to the stigmatization of communities.
- Sub-objective 2 – CSOs will more effectively represent and serve their constituents by responding to disruptions to services and livelihoods that contribute to weakening social cohesion and Violent Extremism (VE) through local solutions determined by our process of points CC4R (Community Capacities for Resilience). PARC-Cameroon’s two-phase implementation approach allows it to pilot and adapt activities and gradually transfer responsibility to local partners.
Family Health International (FHI 360) and its partner Center for the Promotion of Human Rights and Development in Africa (CPHDA), are in a unique position to ensure the success and impact of the project. CPHDA is a major regional actor in the implementation of initiatives to support civil society and combat violence and extremism (CVE) in West Africa. Thanks to his eight years in Cameroon, he has dedicated staff with in-depth knowledge of the context and networks in the Far North.
The main components dedicated to CPHDA in this program are the following:
- Capacity building carried out by the capacity building specialist;
- Respect for gender equity and social inclusion (GESI) ensured by the GESI specialist;
- Coordination of field activities (Mayo-Tsanaga, Mayo-Danay, Diamaré and Logone and Chari) ensured by the Field Activities Coordinators;
- Liaison between the different departments and tracking of activities in the field ensured by the Officer in Charge of Programs;
The management of financial aspects concerning CPHDA is ensured by a Finance Officer.
